For almost 50 years, the Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal has been the periodical of choice for specialists in every segment of the field. Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal started to accept papers on hospitality and tourism management in 2021. As hospitality and tourism management is a newly added area, a special issue is proposed to timely address the most important current issue in the hospitality and tourism area.

Special Issue Information

The COVID-19 pandemic has made the hospitality and tourism industry into an unprecedented challenging environment since 2020. Understanding consumption in Hospitality and Tourism during pre-and post-pandemic is essential to surviving in the unpredictable market environment. Short-term and long-term strategic practices and solutions are needed to develop and implement for the present and future. Thus, the focused area of this special issue should stress the importance of consumers’ behavioral changes and adaptation. The guest editor would like to take this opportunity to bring significant attention among hospitality and tourism scholars on understanding consumers during pre-and post-pandemic and give insight on strategies to prepare for the future. We would like to cordially invite scholars to contribute an article to the Special Issue titled “Consuming in Hospitality and Tourism during Pre-and Post-Pandemic.”

Potential topics of this special issue can be listed as but not limited to

Review Process

Each paper submitted for publication consideration is subjected to the standard review process designated by the Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal. Based on the recommendations of the reviewers, the Editor-in-chief along with the guest editors, decisions will be made whether particular submissions will be accepted, revised or rejected.

 

Proposed schedule

CALL FOR PAPERS – THEREPS2022

Dear Colleagues,

Following the success of the Korea America Hospitality and Tourism Educators Association annual conference since 2011, the board member of KAHTEA is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for a rebranded annual conference titled “Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Conference for Researchers, Educators, Practitioners, and Students (THEREPS)”.

The THEREPS conference committee is excited to invite researchers, educators, practitioners, and students who would like to share their knowledge, business know-how, and valuable experiences. Conference attendees will share their expertise through completed research, research-in-progress, case studies, or open discussion in stand-up presentation, poster presentation, or undergraduate research forum.  

Presentations will be available in the following formats:

1. Refereed research presentations

Research presentations should be based on either theoretical or empirical studies that demonstrate sound research question, research methodology, and implications. Stand-up or poster presentations formats will be available.

2. Undergraduate Student Research Forum

The Undergraduate Student Research Forum is designed to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to present their research proposals, case studies, or completed studies. Stand-up presentation format is only available. The faculty advisor must attend the conference with the student presenter.

Extended Abstracts Submission Guideline (applicable to all formats)

– All extended abstracts will go through a double-blind review process.

– English is an official language. Abstracts will be accepted in English only.

– Extended abstracts should be submitted in MS Word (Times New Roman Font, size 12, and double-spaced) and should not exceed 1,500 words (not including references and tables).

– Please submit the extended abstracts to the conference EasyChair system ( https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=thereps2022 )
