Research Workshop: Statistical Analysis in Social Science

Presenter: Dr. Jeong-Yeol Park

This workshop is designed to help students understand how to use Jamovi as a powerful tool for statistical analysis. Jamovi is a free statistical software that can serve as a viable alternative to SPSS or SAS, and is built on top of R. Through this workshop, students will acquire practical skills and develop confidence to apply data analytics in their own projects and decision-making processes. After completing the workshop, students will receive a certificate of completion. To register for the workshop, please fill out the registration form. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to expand your statistical analysis skills!

Guest Speaker: Mr. Dennis Baloglu

The guest speaker, Mr. Dennis Baloglu, will share his experience in analytics to provide undergraduate students with a roadmap to a career in hospitality analytics. He worked as a marketing and data visualization analyst at MGM Resorts and currently works as a data analyst for a brand development company. Additionally, Mr. Baloglu is an instructor at UNLV and developed the first undergraduate hospitality course focused solely on data analytics. Through this workshop, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to connect with professionals and students from diverse schools, expanding their knowledge about the career opportunities in data analytics in the hospitality industry. Join this educational workshop to learn more!

Dear Colleagues,

The board member of the Korea America Hospitality and Tourism Educators Association is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 2023 THEREPS (Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Conference for Researchers, Educators, Practitioners, and Students).

The THEREPS conference committee invites researchers, educators, practitioners, and students who would like to share their knowledge, business know-how, and valuable experiences. Conference attendees will share their expertise through completed research, research-in-progress, case studies, or open discussion in stand-up presentation, poster presentation, or undergraduate research forum.

 

Presentations will be available in the following formats:

1. Refereed research presentations

Research presentations should be based on either theoretical or empirical studies that demonstrate sound research questions, research methodology, and implications. Stand-up or poster presentation formats will be available.

2. Undergraduate Student Research Forum

The Undergraduate Student Research Forum is designed to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to present their research proposals, case studies, or completed studies. Stand-up presentation format is only available. The faculty advisor must attend the conference with the student presenter.

 

Extended Abstracts Submission Guideline (applicable to all formats)

– All extended abstracts will go through a double-blind review process.

– English is an official language. Abstracts will be accepted in English only.

– Extended abstracts should be submitted in MS Word (Times New Roman Font, size 12, and double-spaced) and should not exceed 1,500 words (not including references and tables).

– Please submit the extended abstracts to the conference EasyChair system: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=thereps2023

– For inquiries regarding abstract submission, please contact the Chair of Research, Dr. Jeongyeol Park at Jeong-Yeol.Park@ucf.edu.

– Note that extended abstracts will be reviewed only for the best paper selection and will not be included in the conference proceedings. The conference proceedings include only one-page summary abstracts.

Following the success of the Korea America Hospitality and Tourism Educators Association annual conference since 2011, the board member of KAHTEA is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for a rebranded annual conference titled “Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Conference for Researchers, Educators, Practitioners, and Students (THEREPS)”.
